Dr. Christine Grou, psychologist and president of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec

Dr. Christine Grou, clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist, has been president of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec since May 2015. She is the Ordre’s political leader and ensures that it fulfills its mission to protect the public.

Dr. Grou worked with patients with mental disorders as a practicing clinical neuropsychologist in the hospital system for over 25 years and continues to work with a diverse clientele as a neuropsychologist and psychotherapist in private practice. She has frequently provided psycho-legal reports. 

Dr. Grou holds a Ph.D. from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a Master’s degree in bioethics from the Université de Montréal. She was head of psychology at the Montreal Mental Health University Institute (formerly the Hôpital Louis-H. Lafontaine) and has worked in academia as a speaker, lecturer, academic supervisor, clinical trainer and member of the Université de Montréal internship consortium.

She has chaired and served as an ethicist on the research ethics committee of the Montreal Mental Health University Institute and is currently a member of the research ethics committee of Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal and chair of the Université de Montréal health research ethics committee. She has also chaired the Table des chefs de services et représentants de la psychologie en milieu hospitalier. In 2008, she received the Ordre’s Professional Award for her outstanding achievements and contribution to the profession. 

Dr. Grou founded Les Cahiers du savoir, a journal published annually by the Ordre that covers a wide range of clinical topics and promotes the sharing of knowledge and evolving ways of being, doing and thinking in the profession. She writes a semi-monthly column in Le Journal de Montréal and gives an average of over one hundred interviews per year to Québec media outlets. Dr. Grou’s in-depth knowledge of the human brain, emotions and cognition makes her a sought-after public speaker.
