Disciplinary hearing roll
The disciplinary hearing roll lists the cases to be heard before the Disciplinary Council. Hearings are posted on the Ordre's website at least 10 days before the scheduled date.
The hearing takes place in a dedicated room on the Ordre's premises. They can also be held in virtual mode on the Teams platform.
Under section 142 of the Professional Code, all hearings are public. However, the Disciplinary Council may, on its own initiative or upon request, order that a hearing be held in camera, or prohibit the disclosure, publication or dissemination of information or documents it specifies, for a reason of public order, particularly to ensure respect for professional secrecy or the protection of a person's privacy or reputation.
Access to file documents
Prior to the first hearing of a disciplinary case, the Disciplinary Council Secretary cannot provide access to the complaint filed. The wording of the complaint is accessible to the public after the first day of the hearing, unless otherwise ordered.
The following information may be provided prior to the first hearing:
- Name of the professional concerned
- Nature of the complaint
- Date and place of the disciplinary hearing
All decisions rendered by the Disciplinary Council (acquittal, preliminary motion, “guilty” decision or penalty) are public and may be provided on request, subject to orders. Since June 1, 2001, the Disciplinary Council decisions have been available free of charge on the SOQUIJ website (French only).
