How to choose?

Before scheduling a meeting, take the time to call the psychologist.

This is the time to talk to him or her about your situation and ask:

  • Whether he or she is qualified to deal with the type of problem you are experiencing
  • What experience he or she has with cases like yours
  • How he or she works

You can also ask practical questions, such as:

  • Where is his or her office located?
  • How easy is it to get there?
  • What is his or her availability?
  • Can the psychologist meet you at a convenient time of the week?
  • What are his or her fees?

For psychotherapy to run smoothly and be successful, a bond of trust needs to be established between you and your psychotherapist. Don't hesitate to ask questions! If, after a few meetings, you still don't feel confident, you have the right to continue with another professional.
